Prayer for Bev

My wife, Bev, needs your prayers!

After struggling with sciatica for four month, Bev had an even more excruciating series of back spasms. Yesterday morning they were so painful that we went to the ER at our local hospital. After an x-ray and CAT scan, the doctor came back with the diagnosis: three spots on the spine!

He believes that Bev’s breast cancer has metastasized to her spine. Today and tomorrow she will undergo four tests so her oncologist can make a determination.

The past 30 hours have been a roller coaster of emotions for us: surprise, concern, tenderness, and faith. We thank the Lord Jesus Christ that He has proven His consistent, faithful love and care for our family for more than four decades. Hebrews 13:5 contains one of the Lord’s precious promises: “I will never leave you, nor will I ever forsake you.” We also know that He is able to do anything, As Jeremiah said, “Nothing is too difficult for Thee.” And our God is in complete control of this challenge, “We adore you has being in control of everything” (1 Chronicles 29:11).

We would be incredibly grateful is you would join our family and the Compass family in praying for Bev. Specifically, that (1) the spots would not be cancer; (2) if they are cancerous, that they would not have spread to any organs; (3) that the Great Physician would completely heal her.

May the peace of God which surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus!

Love in the Healer,
Howard Dayton

  6. I am committed to pray for Bev every day, as I have continued to do since her last episode with cancer.  When you asked listeners to pray on the air I started and haven’t stopped since, most recently thanking God daily for her healing.  I believe all His Promises are true and will pray for both of you.  Thank you for trusting us with this request.

  14. Howard, I was so sad to hear the news about Bev. I am praying for you both. You have both been a testimony to your faith as you walk through this. May the Lord strengthen you both and give you HIs special grace. “But now, this is what the Lord says, He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.’” (Isaiah 43:1-2)

  15. Howard, Just heard what was going on. The Epps family joins you in prayer. God is able. Many blessings, Sharon

  16. Howard, Bev will be remembered in our prayers. May the peace that only the Lord can give be with Bev, you and the family. He is our resting place and underneath are His everlasting arms.
