Dear Friends,

First, an update on my wife’s fight with cancer: Bev started her second round of radiation that is focused on helping to control the breast cancer that spread to her spine, specifically the Lumbar vertebrae and T-7. The only side effect of the first round was relief from pain, but this time it is much different. After each of the three treatments (she will need 15 in all), she has experienced severe headaches, nausea, and fatigue. Each time it has been more difficult.

We’ve been asked to share the biggest lessons we are learning through this journey. This past week it had to do with obedience. James 5:14-15 is a command followed by a precious promise. It says, “Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayers offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed son, they will be forgiven him.”

It was such a sweet time to be with these dear godly people from Northland Church as they anointed Bev with oil and prayed for her healing. Lots of tears! – For thankfulness for personally knowing Jesus as our Savior. For their genuine concern for Bev and the hard road she is traveling. For gratitude of being connected to a vibrant church of people who love one another. For the joy of obeying James 5:14-15. For the expectation of how the Lord will answer their prayers.

If you want to follow Bev’s progress on facebook, click HERE for her page. We deeply appreciate your prayers for her healing.

Warmly in Christ,

Howard Dayton

  1. Am praying for your dear wife. I pray our great and merciful God will grant healing. I went thru this with my wife 28 years ago. She suffered much. She was healed when God took her home after four months of being diagnosed with Melanoma in the brain. We had served as missionaries for several years. Oh, it was so hard and I did not understand. Now I do and give Him praise and glory.

  2. Praying, praying, praying.  Thank you for sharing so we can pray specifically.  Bev is constantly on my heart.

  3. It is my hope and Prayer for your wife that she will have strength to endure the treatments. Isaiah 40:31, He tells us that He will renew our strength. My Prayers are with the two of you and your family.

  4. Howard and Bev,

I have been following your saga and have been in prayer for both of you. May the Lord sustain you through all of this difficulty, blessing you bountifully with His Presence and Comfort. May He show Himself to you in ways small as well as large, daily demonstrating His constant care for you, encouraging you and drawing you to Himself.

I have a little inkling of what you are going through, having been out of work for 16 months and having had major neck surgery in March.

    God bless,

  5. Praying for your wife, and you also.

  6. just learning of Bev’s medical challenge. God is able and is with you all through this journey. Peace, blessings and healing.
