Bev Cancer Update 8-30-13

Dear Friends,

I once asked a very successful business man if he would recommend another businessman in his community. He responded, “I know him pleasantly, and he seems to be cable and committed to Christ. However, I’ve never seen how he acts when in the midst of a crisis, so I don’t really know what kind of a person he is.”

Think about that! We know that Daniel was really committed to the Lord because he prayed even though he knew he would face the lion’s den. Moses trusted God for His protection when he confronted Pharaoh, the most powerful man on earth. The Bible reveals that when a person faces a crisis, you discover their true character.

I have been living with quiet spiritual giant for 42 years. Bev has been through a number of significant crises during our marriage – let’s face it, living with me for that long is a challenge. Haha!

Her current fight with breast cancer that has spread to her spine is her greatest crisis. How she is dealing with the pain and challenges is nothing short of crystal clear evidence of the Lord’s grace and kindness. As I mentioned in the last blog, her radiation has been suspended because of the terrible side effects. Her oncologist prescribed an additional hormonal drug that is intended to amplify the effectiveness of her primary hormonal medication. We should learn in the next 4 weeks or so if they are effective.

We don’t have adequate words to thank you for praying for her complete healing.

Love in Christ,

  1. Love you on the radio & have been praying for you & Bev everyday. We serve a mighty God. Without Him I don’t know what we would do. We will continue to pray & let Bev know so many people love & pray for her 🙂

  2. Howard & bev my heart is very heavy for you both. In feb I had breast cancer surgery, nothing like you r experiencing, but from that standpoint alone, I can say this, I have no pain threshold, and needed no pain pills after the surgery, meaning God took My pain away. This is my testimony to God’s love for me. I don’t know if this will help u feel better, but I hope so. I am praying for relief of your pain!!! Loving you thru this journey – both of you. Thanking u for the updates Howard. Kim Moren Your faithful listener and friend.

  3. Howard,

You and Bev have always been pillars of strength since I first met you in our former life; (the Crown days). Your courage in the midst of this crisis is a “strong” testimony to all !

Becoming my favorite verse: Ephesians 3:20 “God is well able to do the exceedingly, superabundant, beyond what we can ask or think because of the power that works within us”.

We don’t presume on God but “cling to the hem of His garment”.

May the God of all healing, power and strength be with Bev and Howard. By your mercy, compassion and love, heal my sister and give her your Devine strength at this time, Amen !

    Abundant blessings and love.

  4. Isaiah 41:10. He is with you and Beverly. God’s word says He never puts more on us than we can handle. Think about this crisis. He really puts on us what we can handle and observes how we react to the challenges. He already knows the future, He knew Beverly before anyone. He knew Her name before her parents chose her name. He already knew she would be strong during this time. It is easy for me to write these words as I am not in your crisis. I do not know how I would react to my loved one suffering greatly. He knows how you will react before you do face the day. Trust Him. With admiration of you both. My Prayers are spoken and my tears are wept for her. Beverly Price

  5. We continue to lift Bev up in our prayers everyday. Please give her a big hug and let her know she is always in our thoughts.

  6. Thinking of and praying for you both. Love, Donnie & Peggy Myers

  7. Thank you again, Howard.  You are both my heroes and my examples of how Godly Christians conduct themselves in a trial.  Praying with you daily for a miracle.
