I trust you are drawing close to Christ and spending time in His word!
Let me bring you current on what’s happening these days:
Oh, my arm is sore! Ouch . . . Got my immunizations for the trip to India, and it took me a full week to recover from the soreness in my shoulders. Dave Rae (Compass president), Dale Ditto (from Kentucky who has real heart for India) and I will be traveling to India November 3 – 13. The Compass India Managing Director, Richard Samuel, has schedule five Money and Marriage God’s Way seminars for us to present. We also will visit Compass India staff in five major cities, their Board of Directors and a large orphanage. Please pray for a fruitful and safe trip, and that I not eat too much curry.
On the St. John’s River: Spent two wonderful days with Jim Whorton, the Compass Executive Director in Jacksonville, Florida. Jim has been serving Jacksonville and north Florida for more than a decade. It is such an encouragement to see the amazingly capable people that have been called to serve with him. Jim is part of a small group who have been meeting for more than 20 years each week to pray for their community, and the Lord is answering prayers big time . . . Is this something that God might be calling you to do for your city?
Coming soon—Videos on www.compass1.org: We’ve been working for some time on a number of videos introducing Compass, the Navigating Your Finances and Money and Marriage small group studies. We also have videos dealing with Why and How Churches Should Teach God’s Way of Handling Money. The final video presents what the Lord revealed to me about the coming financial Crisis. The web designer has the videos and they should be up soon. Check them out . . .
Just One More: I had the privilege of speaking at our local Christian in Public Schools chapter on Saturday and showed the end of the very powerful movie, Schindler’s List. The setting is Nazi Germany during WWII, and the main character is Oscar Schindler, a businessman who ransoms 1,100 Jews scheduled to be sent to the death camps. At the very end of the movie, he receives word that WWII is over. He is surrounded by those he ransomed and is overcome with the realization that he could have done more. He takes off a gold pin on his coat and says, “I could have done more. He would have given me one more. Just one more.”
This really captures the heart of Compass. If everyone who serves with Compass—small group facilitators, coaches, volunteers and our full-time staff—would disciple at least one more each year, producing a financially faithful person who would in turn reproduce him or herself in the life of “just one more” each year . . . the impact over the next 15 years would be stunning!
I hope you’ll consider joining us and committing to reach “just one more” each year.
Warmly in Christ,
