Sabbath Day

Dear Friends,

I must have caught it from my dad!

No, I’m not taking about the flu that is going around. I caught his work ethic. And for the most part this has been a wonderful gift. But there is one significant down side to my working really hard—I often violate the Fourth Commandment. It’s the longest of the Ten Commandments, and here is what it says:

“Remember the Sabbath day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is n them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy” (Exodus 20:8).

I just finished reading a terrific book titled 24/6 published by Tyndale House. The author is a medical doctor, Matthew Sleeth, and he did a wonderful job of communicating the importance of practicing the Sabbath. It’s an easy book to read with Continue reading Sabbath Day
